The snail is reffering to a common meme hipothetical, where you are proposed a deal:

Would you have a million dolars, and become imortal. in return, there is a snail that is also imortal, and is constantly chaseing you down till the ends of the earth, and if it ever touches you, you instantly die.

In the hipothetical, it's often implied that the snail is hiper intelegent.
