Any music is real music, ANY! That includes jessica simpson or Slipknot, even though you dont like a band doesnt mean it isn't real music. The term is usualy used by people who are angry at other people for their opinions regarding music.
Jon- I like My Chemical Romance
Tommy- what are you gay? go listen to some real music like Tool.
Jon- Your an asshole, it's all real music. You just cant tell the difference between fact and opinion.
Tommy- I see so clearly now! my opinions arent fact, there just what i think! I will no longer be pissed when someone else shows that they are different from me!

A word normally used to describe someone who is obsessed musicals to the point where it drives other people crazy. People who describe themselves as 'Musical Trash' will often be found listening to musical soundtracks at every opportunity and singing along (very loudly). Whenever these people are having a conversation they will reference musical lyrics and if you accidentally say a lyric they will go crazy and continue the whole song.

Term coined by Beavis and Butt-head, refers to music in the 80s and 90s that was somewhere between alternative and artsy-fartsy, usually involving pretentious lyrics, too-artistic camera shots, and whiny or disinterested vocals. This music evolved into Indie Rock.
From the show:
Pavement
The Flaming Lips
Violent Femmes
The Dead Milkmen
... and many others
Quotes:
Beavis says "Hey Butt-head those houses look fake" to which Butt Head replies "Yeah that's like the whole point of college music, to make the suburbs look bad."

misleading term in that it is not actually music. It is mearly the veicle derrived by the media to direct public opinion. "pop bands" such as Mcfly, Girls aloud, or the Faders have no control therefore over their shelf life.
