Scottish / Scots tradition
1. A Warrior of Locked Knowledge; a person who seeks, studies, protects, and unlocks hidden, forbidden, forgotten, or esoteric knowledge.
2. In a new warlock tradition, warlock is understood through an old Scottish context in which the word became associated with an oath-breaker, deceiver, or one who violated a sworn word.
This tradition reinterprets the meaning through the legendary history of the Knights Templar, holding that certain Templars
broke their oaths of secrecy by revealing protected knowledge and information concerning kings and enemies during the Crusades.
According to this tradition, these Templars were also connected with the discovery and study of ancient knowledge associated with
King Solomon, including Hermetic
philosophy, alchemy, sacred geometry, mysticism, astronomy, and other esoteric arts.
They are not male witches who practice witch craft they are warlocks warriors of locked knowledge.

The term **warlock** has a genuine historical connection to **Scots usage**, where forms of the word were associated with an oath\-breaker or deceiver\.
This interpretation preserves the
Scottish association with the **broken oath**, but gives the word a deeper initiatory meaning:

truth\.**
