To take better quality components from outside a piece of media (album jacket/records, dust cover/books) and match with better condition media (record, book, etc). to create an upgraded final version worth keeping.

The cover on that Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon is in great condition. I'll frankenstein the good vinyl of my other copy to make a keeper copy for my collection.

Frankenstein Deck

A Frankenstein Deck is a slide deck or PowerPoint file made up of slides borrowed from other seemingly random decks. It is usually characterized by constant changes in tense, fonts, and background color.

I'm having a hard time following this Frankenstein Deck - none of the background images are consistent, and it seems like some parts were written for different versions of the product.

A deus ex machina used to perform an extremely complex task in one fell swoop. Often used sarcastically to imply that a task presumed easy is in fact difficult or impossible to automate.

Takes its name from the huge levers used in black and white Frankenstein films to activate the elaborate mechanism used to reanimate The Creature, usually resulting in electrical discharge and cries of "it's alive!!!"

Boss: "Can you migrate all of our users to the new database, change the domain of everyone's email and redirect all traffic to the new datacentre ASAP?"

IT staff: "Sure. I'll just pull this Frankenstein switch..."
