Scemo

A mix between scene and emo for those who cannot decide between the two. Scemos are often very awesome and it is natural to be totally jealous of their awesomeness

They sometimes wear dark clothes like emos and sometimes a lot of color like scene kids. It depends on their mood.

xxEmoKidxx: Hey, are you emo?
I'mTooAwesomeForThat: Pff, naww. I'm scemo.
xxEmoKidxx: Man.. I wish I was that awesome..
I'mTooAwesomeForThat: Chyeahh.

screamo

Subdivision of emo and hardcore, generally having more similarities to hardcore in terms of instrumentals, but lyrics are closer to emo. Screamed or spoken-word vocals, laden over soft, proggy riffs or crashing metal madness, more the latter. Mostly dead by now, as the genre was already heavily explored in the 90's by bands such as Hot Cross, Saetia and Orchid.

Most modern (post-2000, really) bands referred to as screamo are either emocore, such as Alexisonfire and Thursday, or mall punks wearing eyeliner and trying to be scary, such as The Used and My Chemical Romance. Derision should not be layed against such mall punk bands, however, as they still have enough balls to wreck their vocal chords while singing about how they're just kids and thier lives are nightmares.

"Man, this Level-Plane screamo stuff is way too hardcore for my ears. But hot damn, those are some cool riffs." CORRECT

"The Used is a great screamo band." INCORRECT

Scemo

For a start i want to say I think labels can be used to describe how someone dresses, there is such thing as goth, punk and emo fashion so i think if what you wear fits into the scene you shouldn't get pissed when people ask you if you belong in it. A scemo in my opinion is someone who posses the personality traits of either an emo ( deep, quiet, introverted, sensitive, bipolar, emotional, pessimistic, thoutful, emotive and creative) or a "scene kid" ( optimistic, happy, bubbly, random, confident, different, extroverted) or a combination of both. Generally people will have a combination of both so what really makes you seen as a "scemo" is if you dress in a mixture of the two. Band shirts, converse, black eyeliner, fringe (emo) and neon skinny jeans, candy bracelets, crazy hair and a colourful hoodie. Emos can dress however they want and so can scene kids. Just because you choose to follow a lifestyle doesn't mean you limit yourself to one fashion sense. That's why the only reason to really know is to ask them :)

That quiet kid in the corner, writing in a diary wearing a pink hoodie and a BOTDF shirt looks like a scemo. There's no point labelling him though.
