Law of the Possible Ad Hoc

The principle that ad hoc constructions are always possible—there is always some explanation, some solution, some argument that can be devised for the specific case, regardless of whether it generalizes. The law acknowledges human creativity: faced with a novel situation, we can always invent something that addresses it, even if that something has no broader application. This is the source of both human ingenuity (we can solve unprecedented problems) and human folly (we can justify anything). The law of the possible ad hoc reminds us that possibility is not the same as validity—just because we can invent an ad hoc explanation doesn't mean it's true.

Example: "He needed an excuse for missing the deadline and, applying the law of the possible ad hoc, invented one on the spot—a family emergency, a computer crash, a mysterious illness. It was possible, plausible, and completely fabricated. The law said: ad hoc is always possible. His boss said: next time, plan better. Both were right."

Hockey Mask Time

When a man finally reaches his breaking point, snaps and kills the female (BabyMama/Girlfriend/Ex-Wife/Wife) he was or is in a relationship with. This is usually the result of Divorce/Family Court issues in which the man has been backed into a corner and has nothing left to lose.

Man 1. Did your hear about Jim's wife filing for divorce and full custody?
Man 2. Yeah, I heard he killed her because of it!
Man 1. She said she was taking EVERYTHING and he figured oh well it's HOCKEY MASK TIME!
Man 2. I guess he decided HMT was his last resort.

Hockey

A sport that requires people to hit a small disc or Puck around with sticks while the players are on ice. The game was invented by Canadians and they tend to call it the best sport ever and anything american is terrible. But I'm American and actually like Hockey just as much as I like Baseball, so I'm a true fan because I like sports and not bitch about which sport is better or not. Sadly ESPN or any other sports channel doesn't want to show the damn game because they don't like it as much as Handegg, which is really a stupid sport.

Hockey is pretty fun to watch.

Rink Hockey

Rink hockey, a sold out spectator sport in the 1992 Olympics, is internationally played in over 50 countries. World Championships are held annually for School Boys, Junior, Ladies and Senior Divisions along with intercontinental cup tournaments. Rink Hockey is a team sport that enjoys significant popularity in a number of Latin countries. Depending on territories, it is also known as Hóquei em Patins, International Style Ball hockey, Quad Hockey or Hardball Hockey. There have been many world championships, Latin countries dominating the sport since the 1940s: Portugal (15 World titles), Spain (14 World titles), Italy (4 World titles) and Argentina (4 World titles). Other countries, such as France, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Andorra and England are regular international competitors, but rarely overcome the traditional powers. Rink Hockey was recently referred to as Hardball Hockey in the United States until November 2008 when the USOC adopted the sports more common name Rink Hockey.

Rink Hockey was played as a demonstration roller sport in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

HOCD

HOCD stands for Homosexual Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and it is characterised by having unwanted thoughts about your sexual orientation.These ‘thoughts’ are known as obsessions and I shall talk more about this later on in this article.It can take the from of purely an obsessive thought, which can include thoughts and urges relating to your sexual preference, but there are usually hidden compulsions–compulsions are things you do to make yourself feel better, to reassure yourself you aren't gay.People with this constantly question their sexual preference and are troubled by thoughts that they might be gay.Before developing it, you would not have given any thought to your sexual preference as it would have been a given.An important point is that it is not the content of the thoughts that are the problem, it's what you do with the thoughts.It's need for certainty and reassurance is.In other words, the compulsions.These are all characteristics of OCD and can be treated.If you have been heterosexual all your life, you will still be heterosexual, it just feels like you might be gay and not know it.It’s very simple, HOCD is a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and being gay is enjoying and wanting romantic relationships with members of the same sex.If you have HOCD, your thoughts processes are concerned about being gay – not your actions. If you are gay your actions and your thoughts show that you are gay.You want, seek out and enjoy romantic relationships with the same sex.

It is the doubt that I mentioned above, and the need to know for sure, that leads you into the cycle of looking for reassurance, analysing everything and carrying out compulsions. This is what keeps it all going, it has nothing to do with your sexuality at all!

So what does this all mean?
If some of things that I have written here makes sense to you, or you recognise yourself in it, it means that
whatever is happening to you is a symptom of HOCD, it does not mean that you are gay.
This doesn’t mean you are homophobic. It is however alarming if you suddenly start to question your sexuality, which you will have been taking as a ‘given’ for all of your life
