capital account balance

the net purchase of financial assets in a country by foreigners. Put another way, the capital account balance is the net influx of money from overseas investors. It includes net purchases of domestic financial assets by foreigners minus net purchases of foreign financial assets by domestic citizens.

The capital account balance over short periods of time (e.g., a fortnight) is extremely volatile; over a period of a year, however, it usually offsets the current account balance. For example, in all years since 1980, the USA has run a large-to-huge current account deficit, but in most years it has run a capital account surplus that is almost as big as the current account deficit.
The capital account balance often permits a huge trade deficit to persist over several decades without a significant fall in the exchange rate of a nation's currency.

The Balance Between Good and Evil

Basically what life is all about. No one is truly good and no one is truly evil. People may be black and white emotionally but we're all really grey because we have good and bad in all of us.

However, this doesn't mean that one should actually strive to be evil. We're all imperfect so we're bound to make mistakes sometimes, but what's most important is that we learn from them and prevent ever doing them again.
The yin and the yang pretty much describes the balance between good and evil.

trade balance

the amount of goods and services that a country exports, minus the goods and services that it imports *in a calendar year*. In 1999 Japan exported much more than it imported, so it had a trade surplus. The same year, the United States imported more than it exported, and therefore had a large trade deficit.

The trade balance is negative if a country runs a trade deficit, and positive if it runs a trade surplus.
The trade balance is an extremely important indicator of economic health for most countries. Typically (not not always) the value of the currency is strongly influenced by the trade balance also.

Sausage fest balance theorem

A rare phenomenon that occurs when there is a large group of males accompanied by one to two females. The sausage fest activities cease to a minimum and the female(s) balance out the exponential guy to girl ratio, but guys can still be guys. It's a win-win situation.
