Get the war hoteling mug.Hazbin Hotel started as a group of characters within the universe of Vivziepop's webcomic "Zoophobia", but eventually became its own universe in the form of an animated pilot uploaded to Vivziepop's YouTube channel back in 2019, which quickly became very popular and now boasts over 114,000,000 views.
On December 11th of 2021, the show was picked up by A24 to be turned into a fully-fledged show airing on a streaming service (the streaming service was not known at this time).
On September 28th of 2023, the official Twitter account posted a video of an announcement, announcing that not only would Season 1 be released in January of 2024, but that Season 2 was already in production.
On November 27th of 2023, the show was announced to be streaming on Prime Video, with eight episodes to its first season ("Overture", "Radio Killed the Video Star", "Scrambled Eggs", "Masquerade", "Dad Beat Dad", "Welcome to Heaven", "Hello Rosie", and "The Show Must Go On") with the first four releasing simultaneously on January 19th of 2024, the fifth and sixth episodes releasing on January 26th of 2024, and the seventh and eighth episodes releasing on February 2nd of 2024.
Upon the show's release on Prime Video on January 19th of 2024, the show sat in the #1 spot across multiple countries for a week and broke the record for the biggest global debut of an animated show on Prime Video, previously held by the animated show "Invincible". Seasons 3 and 4 have already been announced.
