Example 1:

Friend 1: "I went to McDonalds and the girl working gave me a free apple pie, then on the way out I found $10".
Friend 2: " OMG that's such a Catch 44!"

Example 2:

Girl: "I decided I wanted to learn how to play the electric guitar. Turns out my sister's BF and and my new BF are both sick guitar players".
Sister: "Holy shit that's such a Catch 44".

catch-all

a term in accounting to denote an account head where anomalies, eg wrong treatments of accounts, are transferred. For example, if an asset head is wrongly credited with Rs. 50,000, the assets and liabilities are shown with a mismatch of this amount.

The general ledger of the company has a catch-all figure of Rs. 25,000, which needs to be rectified.
