Textbook fear

A type of anxiety or apprehension felt towards a situation or decision because it is commonly perceived as difficult, overwhelming, or universally feared, rather than based on personal experience. It’s the fear of facing something simply because it has been widely described as daunting, often amplified by societal expectations or common narratives.

Fear

It isn't a fear problem and you don't need me to act.
Hym "I shouldn't have to ask for this to not be happening to me and I should have to ask you to intervene. You should have done something different here and you're just trying to spin it back it me because you want me to have to do something different here. My life was always on the line here. I wasn't doing the thing you were accusing me of. And I AM BEING SURROUNDED BY A NURSE RACHET HIVEMIND WHO IS DELIBERATELY MAKING ME ILL SO THEY HAVE SOMEONE TO TREAT. Whatever fear I theoretically had when I started this has been entirely displaced by contempt for the people participating in this."

I was in fear of my safety

I was in fear of my safety is a term commonly used as a blanket defense by a police or law enforcement officer to justify use of force against a civilian or other person. Historically, this defense carries a very low burden of proof from the officer or department. ©2021/Rdee

Rabbit fear

An exceptionally extreme type of fear that causes a person to flee like mad from something that can easily be harmless, as if running from a murderous gunman, like how a rabbit runs from everything larger than it. The type of fear in which even the sound of a windblown leaf sends a person fleeing like mad, as if fleeing from the gun, to where it can cause injury to anyone in the person's way.
Rabbit fear of a popping toy balloon caused a huge mad stampede at the local shopping mall that left several people injured.

The woman that leapt out of her seat and ran from the sound of the wind in the trees had rabbit fear.

Rabbit fear of a CD player at the airport resulted in an evacuation of the terminal.

Her rabbit fear of men eventually caused all men to avoid her completely.

Fear Bait

A tactic used to deliberately provoke fear in a specific person or group, just to get a reaction. Similar to rage baiting, which seeks to spark anger, fear baiting is about triggering anxiety, panic, or unease on purpose. It's typically personal or situational, rather than widespread like fear mongering. The term is most often used among friends in a joking way, though it can also describe moments where fear is pushed a little too far.

The term was coined by Twi Shorts to describe AyoDen's playful attempts to spook or freak others out.
1. He was fear baiting his little brother with fake ghost stories just to watch him freak out.

2. Telling her the teacher’s mad when they’re not is just fear baiting at this point.
