irish

A race of people who have come under attack by the ignorance of people (mainly living in America) who believe that due to their partial lineage back to the people of Ireland, are somehow "Irish", even though they have never even been to ireland. It is beleived widely to be a form of embarrasment or a way to escape the uninteresting and often boreing fact that these people are card holding americans whos mothers and fathers were born here as were they, and therefore have none of the crudentials that would validate and irish citizenship.

Ireland is also known to those who have lived there for its kick ass Fish and Chips and pride in Thick, rich, day-fresh guinness.

Fighting Irish

A legendary player in the game Regnum-Online, both for his skill and the fact that no matter what is asked his standard answer is "I can't be arsed"
In a sense Fighting Irish is both used as a derogatory name AND as a positive label of empowerment.
Hey dude, can you help me?
- I can't be arsed
Quit being Fighting Irish.

Wow, did you see that guy kill 5 players in a row?
- Yeah, that's Fighting Irish

Irish knife

(n.) The predictably jagged top half of a recently broken glass bottle held at the neck by the wielder.
Mickey called Paddy's sister a whore from Revere so Lenny grabbed a bottle of Jameson; made an 'Irish knife' on the bar; and held it under Mickey's nose and made him apologize. Then they all made their peace and went out to beat up some smart kids from Harvard.

Irish American

Someone who is, in the majority of cases, not actually Irish at all. To be Irish, you have to be born in IRELAND. Its a relatlively small Island off the coast of the UK for those who don't know...

This whole identity seems to be popular amongst people who seem to be attracted to aligning with and relating to a nationality that is often seen to be; a minority, hard done by, repressed, and most importantly of all, WHITE. Yes, that is why it is regarded by some to be attractive to be strongly linked to this diaspora, YOU ARE HARD DONE BY, AND WHITE!!!!!!!!!! amazing! That, in my opinion, is why so many people want to be an Irish American, for them it is much better than being 'Mexican' or 'Black'. You're just American, get over it.
Well, im irish american me... Yeah and proud. Wait, can you put the subtitles on for this irish accent on the tv here? yeah, my great great grandma came to the US from Ireland in 1802. Her maiden name was Chan.

shannons irish pub

An awesome pub, on 175 Carlton Street in downtown Winnipeg. They have good food, and Guinness for $6.25/pint. So pretty inside. It's a good place to hear some good local music and get hammered with your friends. And the guys seem to like the waitresses short short little kilt skirts.
We went to Shannons Irish Pub for Katia's birthday

You guys wanna go to Shan's?

"Hey Hollie, which part is the banger and which is the mash? hehehe ;) lol..."
