smart delay start

A start that is delayed from its normal time because of a smartphone use.

e.g. (at a petrol servo, while waiting in line)
- "Why isn't this car moving out, they've been finished for 5' now!"
- "They probably do a smart delay start! Honk at them! Or wait until they've finished texting."

When someone is late because they (or someone they're traveling with) takes an excessively long poop, therefore causing a delay in the plans.

Sorry we're late to the poetry reading, we were set back about 20 minutes due to my husband's poop delay.

comics delay

Refers to an impromptu pause in labors that involve old newspapers --- such as cleanup or padding --- to read cartoons that you happen across as you're separating the leaves of the journals prior to using the paper sheets for their intended purpose in your task.

My boss takes a dim view of comics delays, so I just save out any newspaper-sheets that have cartoons on them, and then peruse said funnies during my coffee breaks.

The late arrival for the more exclusive/popular (famous) guests.
The term is both used to excuse late arrivals and practised to appear more popular, exclusive, busy and sensational.

BEN: Dude we're so fucking late!
JOHN: That's alright Ben, you know... fame delay. Am I right?

OR

BEN: Come on, let's go!
JOHN: No way dude! Don't forget about fame delay. We should at least arrive one hour into the party.
BEN: Oh yeah right. We're so V.I.P.!
FIONA: Omg guys. Stop being such assholes.
