An extemely unattractive person who some how is married to a physically attractive person, or dates individuals that are way too good looking for him/her. Someone that wants to be a socialite. Someone that has to pretend to be somebody else to get accepted by a group of people, usually because their life would be boring, unoriginal, unimaginative, and plain without the pretense of being this other intriguing person that people are actually interested in/pay attention to, or want to know/want around.
The actress was a natural tomboy and was naturally loose in social situations, and the dork was so impressed by her that she was everything the dork wanted to be (except a scam artist/poseur). The actress wasn't someone people wanted to go away whenever she was around, even as herself, and that was the difference between the actress as herself and the dork when she tried to be herself.
