Real Robot

Generally, Real Robots in anime shows try to be realistic. Anything you could expect from a Sci-Fi movie. No bizarre weapons or hot-bloodedness, for the most part. It sometimes depends on the actual feel of the show, though.

Some good examples of Real Robots are Gundams (minus G Gundam), Macross mechs, and Fafners.

Look at Super Robot.
