DV

DV is short for Deo Volente, which is Latin for 'God willing'. It is used when saying something is going to happen in the (distant) future in a certain way, except if circumstances will cause it to happen differently. The phrase is often found in invitation cards.

The use of this phrase is derived from this passage in the Bible:

James 4:13-15
