VTEC=Variable timing and lift electronic control.

By changing the variable timing and lift these engines can perform better than it's normal non-VTEC cousins. More horsepower, torque, revolutions per minute and so on.

VTEC

VTEC - Variable Valve timing and Lift Electronic Control and is an electronic and mechanical system in some Honda engines that allows the engine to have multiple camshafts. VTEC engines have an extra intake cam with its own rocker, which follows this cam. The profile on this cam keeps the intake valve open longer than the other cam profile. At low engine speeds, this rocker is not connected to any valves. At high engine speeds, a piston locks the extra rocker to the two rockers that control the two intake valves.

Honda has VTEC to increase efficiency not increase performance.

VTEC Nation

A phrase used to describe those who gather in the Vtech's name to worship and adore its "Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control". People of the Vtec nation (often male in gender between the ages of 16- 20), gather in large groups of Integra's, Honda’s, and of course the fabled Prelude. The people of the Vtec nation come together to "pop their hoods" and trade various goods such as ram intakes, and large mufflers (which also go by their trade names as fart cannons). When many people gather in the Great Vtec's name a common ritual takes place within the group of males causing them to challenge those who question the word of the Vtec. A challenging Vtech male can often be seen “cruising " night and day looking for weak vehicles to prey upon to feed it's ever growing ego.

Guy 1 :" You totally just kicked the shit out of that mini van bra!"

Guy 2 : " Ya he be feelin my vtec lobes."

Guy 1 : "Dude when that Vtech kicked you left that mom the dust, it was like she wasn't even trying"

Guy 2: " Prelude FTW!! VTEC NATION!!"

i-vtec

a new version of Honda's vtec which incorporates a camshaft "phaser" on the intake cam only. This allows the computer (or tuner if k-proed) to advance the intake cam from 0 degrees up to 50 degrees before TDC (BMW's system = 5 degrees). Basically you can achieve optimum valve overlap for any rpm at any MAP sensor value, which significantly reduces emissions, increases gas mileage, and increases torque + power. Under certain circumstances (cold engine, malfunction, etc.) the computer will lock the cam in the 0 degree position.

My i-vtec k20 is more efficient and capable of building more power than your b-series.

ls vtec

Consisting mixing a non-vtec ls block with a vtec head in simple terms. Favorable swap by periatsi's because of low cost and power made. The downside durability, they don't last for shit.
