Talk to Elvis

A way of excusing ones self to go to the bathroom. Derived from the location where Elvis took his final breath and also a scene in "True Romance", starring Christian Slater, where he talks to Elvis' ghost in the bathroom. Commonly used by people who can appreciate Elvis as a singer and find humor in his lifestyle. So far, hipsters haven't caught on to the phrase, which is a good thing.

Johnny Lockjaw, after having a few beers at the local gin joint, "Oh man, I gotta go talk to Elvis"

"Talk to the hand," sometimes uttered while holding out the hand palm up, is short for the phrase "Talk to the hand because the face isn't listening." It has the same intent as saying, "Don't waste your time with excuses, I don't want to hear about it."

When the employee was late for work and offered an excuse to his boss, the boss shot back, "Talk to the hand," and walked away.

Cutting phrase used to stop a discussion, similar to "whatever". Used in conjunction with the gesture of shoving the upright palm of the hand in the other person's direction.

(other version: "talk to the hand 'cos the face ain't listening" but I didn't know faces could listen, I thought ears did that!)
