One who thinks just because they're a year older than freshman, that means they're "the shit". Generally just as whiney and immature as a freshman.

Sophomore Lisa: Hey guys, I'm a sophomore now! Aren't these new freshman like, TOTALLY annoying!?

Sophomore

A person who has survived the worst year of high school freshmen year and now moved up in ranks. sophomores are usually more intelligent and mature than their freshmen peers they also have more confidence and are more adjusted to their school positions. They also get another level of work from their teachers and if not popular or well-known would usually stay out of the way of Juniors and Seniors unless they are directly provoked or picked on. Sophomores know the routine and unless they are new students or antisocial will remain calm and try to be 'cool' they are also more bigger and tougher than freshmen and can get away with a lot more, Their higher maturity from lower grades possibly explain why they dislike or outright hate freshmen so much. But to Seniors they are just big freshmen.

Sophomores are great they are the oil that keep the school running and keep the freshmen in check.

Sophomore

Someone who feels super knowledgeable about a particular area of expertise and has little actual experience.
Inappropriately confident about a particular area of expertise.

Often used in the medical field to describe know it all junior coworkers.

Example: "That new emergency room intern is a real sophomore, he has all the answers and no questions".
Basically teenagers behave this way. They know everything until they age into ignorance.
