Get the Yellow Hearts mug.An RPG produced in 2002 by Square-Enix and Disney. Featuring character designs by Tetsuya Nomura, well known for Final Fantasy VII, VIII and X, as well as Parasite Eve 1 & 2, the game follows Sora, a 14-year-old boy on a quest to reunite with his friends Kairi and Riku. Along the way, he teams up with various Disney characters including Donald Duck, Goofy, Tarzan, Aladdin, Ariel, Jack Skellington and others as he battles the Heartless that threaten to destroy all worlds.
While the gameplay was above-average and the re-playability good, many "hardcore" fans don't consider this game up to Square's standards. Tougher-than-thou fans point out the child-like simplicity of a boy defeating the darkness in people's hearts as being too kiddish, as well as making fun of the inclusion of Disney characters, because as we all know, Disney = TEH EVAL!!!1
If people took the time to play the game without inhibitions and enjoy it for what it is -- Not Final Fantasy -- they might find that they would enjoy the game far more than they think.
The game features various Square cameos as well as Disney, including Cloud (FFVII), Aerith (FFVII), Yuffie (FFVII), Sephiroth (FFVII), Squall/Leon (FFVIII), Selphie (FFVIII), Tidus (FFX), and Wakka (FFX).
The original PS2 Kingdom Hearts spawned an array of related media, including a PS2 sequel (due the fall of 2005), a sequel for the GBA entitled Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and a manga series. Who knows what the future will hold for this extremely popular franchise?

Get the Kingdom Hearts mug.A Square Enix - Disney hybrid game. Sequel of Kingdom Hearts.
It was advertised a lot more than the first Kingdom Hearts, and as a result has gotten more attention, both good and bad.
Using characters and worlds from Disney, as well as completely original ones, and Final Fantasy character cameos, they've managed to create a pretty freaking awesome game.
A lot more linear than Final Fantasies, it can't hold up against them storyline-wise, however featuring an incredible Real-Time Battle system it really is a completely different kind of game.
However it is often bashed by so called 'hardcore gamers' for:
a) Having Disney in it at all.
b) Having a 'simple' storyline.
c) Being a 'button masher'.
In opposition to the above:
a) Walt Disney revolutionised fantasy and animation. The movies were all great and the people who make that argument are usually ignorant pre-teens who missed the Disney Era.
b) It is the generic Good vs. Overwhelming Evil, but then, most games are like that.
c) Real Time fighting. Get used to it. It's no more of a 'button masher' than great games like Radiata Stories and Star Ocean.
In conclusion, Square and Disney tried to make a new kind of game and succeeded. Not the best game out there, but very good all the same. If you buy it expecting another Final Fantasy you'll be disappointed, it really is a different type of game.
Oh and it's better than it's predecessor in pretty much every single possible way.

Get the kingdom hearts 2 mug.A series of games developed by Sacnoth and released by Midway Games Ltd.
The first game was made on Playstation 1 and was named Koudelka, set in 1898.
Shadow Hearts was then set alot later in late 1913 in japan, the main character named Yuri Hyuga who is a Harmonixer and has the ability to "Morph" into different monsters that are based on six elements: Water, Fire, Wind, Earth, Ligh and Dark.
Yuri encounters a young european girl named Alice Elliot, on a trans-siberian railroad train, where a man named Roger Bacon attempts to kidnap her. Yuri comes to her rescue and is drawn into a deep and dark plot, involving his father who died while he was younger. Yuri and Alice become close, and they travel around the world with many companions to find out the truth behind Roger Bacons intent and to save the world.
Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant is set some time after Shadow Hearts, after Alice has died from the end of the first game and Yuri is living in Domremy, helping to defend it against the German army, as the game is set in world war 1. Yuri is troubled by his loss of Alice and sets out to try and bring her back from the dead with the aid of an ancient book. Yuri and his many companions that he gains along the way, get entangled in a dark plot, involving the Vatican, the Romanovs(Tsar, Russian royal family) and even Rasputin himself. Although these people actually existed, the events that happen during the game are not related to true events.
Many characters from the first Shadow Hearts make an appearance, either aiding, or trying to destroy, Yuri and his friends.
Both Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant use turn based RPG style battle styles. Attacks and abilities etc. success is dependant on the Judgment Ring, a ring that appears with highlighted sections and a swinging arm that rotates around the ring, the aim is to "hit" the ares which are highlighted, depending on how accurate you do this depends on the damage and effect of the ability etc.
There are many status effects which change the judgment ring, such as making the arm swing faster, making it harder to hit areas. Or making the ring smaller, also making it harder to hit the required areas.
Both games have deep, dark storylines and music. The characters are unique and interesting, some more evil and twisted then others. The areas that Yuri and co. visit are all beautifully designed.
Both games have a long life, and there are many submissions to be done on both, including obtaining ultimate weapons and armor.
This game is a good game for any RPG supporters, especially those that enjoy darker storylines and more mature gameplay and characters.

Get the Shadow Hearts mug.makes a heart in html. usually used on myspace, livejournal, or other blogs of that sort. sometimes, (to be creative) kids will say "and hearts semi colon", but it is the same thing.
sometimes it is used to express love for someone, and sometimes it seems that the person is angry, but when the heart is added to the end of the sentence it becomes loving.
