fundamentalist

One who believes in an idea as "fundamental," the absolute, literal truth, adheres to the ORIGINAL version of the idea, is prepared to take action based on that belief, and is unlikely to change their mind.

Often misdefined as "fanatic". A person can be a fanatic and a fundamentalist, or only a fundamentalist, or only a fanatic, or neither.

The action taken by a fundamentalist depends on the nature of their belief. It can be a personal action which affects no one else, or an action which affects tens of thousands of others, or something in between. Can be positive or negative.

Can apply to any religion or ideology, also of a method of or pertaining to fundamentals.

Two of the most common usages:

"islaamic fundamentalist" - generally stereotyped as jihaadist. Not necessarily so.

"christian fundamentalist" - generally stereotyped as bigoted and in-your-face. Again, not necessarily so.

And a correct but uncommon use:
Music teacher: "You need to learn your instrument's fundamentals before you can play solos."
Kid: "Teacher is a fundamentalist."

Fundamentaloid

A far better word for Fundamentalist as it adds a feeling of the machine like logic processes these people have. They are a poor immitation of life, uncapable of thinking for themselves. Instead they recite whatever they have been programmed to.

use Fundamentaloid any where you would use fundamentalist

One can be a fundamentaloid in any religious or secular creed.

Fundamentalist Criticism

An analysis literary or artistic work where the critic claims to have found the literal, only/sole verdicial, or irrefutable interpretation of a literary or artistic work.

Halsey: "Arroxa's claims on Shrek being written as a Ricardian socialist criticism on Consumerism is bordering on fundamentalist criticism. Not because of her take (which is interesting), but her claim that all other interpretations of the artistic work; that is Shrek, is phony -- which is a bit much. I mean her take is interesting, but come on dude. Do you know what I mean Jiheon."
Jiheon: "Yeah she seems a bit much at times, but Arroxa is our highly opinionated bestie. We love her despite her putative ipsedixitism."

first fundamental theorem of calculus

The first fundamental theorem of calculus states that (just trying to remember here), with F(x) being the antiderivative of f(x), while u stand for the upper bound and l stands for the lower bound, the definite integral of a function f(x) is equal to F(u) - F(l).

"Solve the integral from 2 to 3 of x^2" Well, this should be easy. Just use the first fundamental theorem of calculus.
The antiderivative of x^2 = (x^3)/3. (3^3)/3 = 9, and (2^3)/3 = 8/3. 9 - 8/3 = 19/3, which is equal to 6.3333333... Time to search this up on good ol' Wolfram Alpha. *Checks* Alright!

1. Taking something fundamental and applying it in practice. A combination of the words fundamental and implementation.

2. Taking something ordinary and making it fundamental.

The programmers completed fundamentation of their code before adding minor features and details on top.

The political party undertook some major fundamentation of their financial policies to gain support and show they had a solution when the markets were in crisis.
