Verb getting humbled: to take someone's blissful pride, self-centeredness, narcissism or ego down to a point where they realize they're not the *hot shit* or *alpha* they thought they were.

Often done in a polite way without involving physical or verbal aggression, and even less so, passive-aggressiveness.

Misleading or deceptive publicity disseminated by an organization so as to present a humble or wholesome public image whilst commiting morally dubious acts.

This can also be demonstrated by claiming neutrality in (typically) political and/or social debates among today's society when infact the organization doesn't claim neutrality in the first place.
