When a person Looses, he is Taking an L. It is usually when you try to do something fun,or try to impress someone, but you fail. Also if you argue a point but it is proved wrong, you take an L. Or if something bad just happens to you u took an L.

Soulja boi was taking a L when he got robbed while livestreaming.

Jake:" Nah, she rejected me"
