Before the rise of the Internet, it was largely used amongst the Amiga pirate, as well as, the demo-scene community.
A lamer would be a wanna-be hacker with absolutely no coding/cracking skills at all.

Also, it was used as an insult between rival pirate groups.

I completely disagree with the other definition.

Lambert And Butler, or L&B, are an extremely good quality brand of cigarettes at a reasonable price.

They are by no means the cheapest brand, and are in fact the most popular British one, with a great flavour and a good finish.
