Generation Beta

According to social researcher Mark McCrindle in his book 'The ABC of XYZ: Understanding the Global Generations' (www.mccrindle.com.au), this is what we can expect the next generation to be called. Given the fact that the generational span has contracted significantly from 20-25 years to 15 years, he also predicts that the next generation is due to begin in 2010.
So, why 'Beta'? With generational analysis having moved from a stage of foundation to consolidation, a more predictable labelling system is being formed. There being consensus on the alphabetised theme of Generations X, Y and Z, it is most likely that the next generation will be Generation Alpha (the first letter of the Greek alphabet). This nomenclature of moving to the Greek alphabet after exhausting the Latin one (A, B, C, D etc), has a long history with meteorologists. In fact, scientists of all disciplines use the Greek alphabet as a labelling sequence and so it looks likely that the sociologists will follow this trend with the generations too.

Court General

The Court General can be found at any local gym or rec center. There is at least one in every pick-up game that gets going at the basketball court. This tool will not only be on your team, he will also hog the ball roughly 85% of the time, and won't hesitate to bark unintelligible orders at complete strangers on their team because of their great knowledge of the game. Amazingly, every time they play with others, they are having "the worst game of their lives," which they will yell after missing a shot as if that sort of thing never happens to them. Expect them to air-ball at least three 3-pointers and probably be on the losing side.
Steve: Our team might have won, but i had a guy on mine who shot 0-18 and didn't pass it to anyone. He sucked ass.

Gary: Court General, huh? They're the worst.

Fourth Generation Warfare

The generations of warfare are:

* 1st Generation: tactics of line and column; which developed in the age of the smoothbore musket.

* 2nd Generation: tactics of linear fire and movement, with reliance on indirect fire.

* 3rd Generation: tactics of infiltration to bypass and collapse the enemy's combat forces rather than seeking to close with and destroy them; and defense in depth.

Fourth Generation Warfare is asymmetricall warfare which uses traditionally non-military means to achieve military objectives.

Common types of Fourth Generation Warfare are

1. Propaganda or mass media manipulation e.g. Pallywood
2. Economic or financial warfare e.g. 1970's Arab oil embargo, sanctions, attempting to weaken a countrie's currency.
3. Lawfare e.g. international "law"
4. Cyber warfare e.g. Hacking an enemy's computer networks
China is using Fourth Generation Warfare when it launches thousands of cyber attacks against America's department of defense networks on a daily basis.
