The box they give you when you get fired or laid off from an office job. This is the box you put all your personal things in from your cubicle.
Bill: "Are they still laying people off where you work?"
Joe: "Ya.. They just passed out four more GTFO boxes"

Linux box is a type of "box" that runs... linux, surprise surprise.
A box is geek speak for a computer. It's based on the fact that no matter what marketing spin and terrible contoured shapes corporations put on computers, they are still basically beige boxes.

Person A: So what do you have at home?
Person B: A couple Windows systems, a Mac... my pride and joy is my linux box.

A stand-in name for any company you have ever worked for. Use this to avoid any awkward references to a previous employer (similarly, you should avoid mentioning the name of previous boyfriends/girlfriends while your current partner is present).
This meme started in 2014 as an inside joke between two data scientists, Steve and Spencer, who are working for a major video game company in Boulder, CO. It is a reference to their colleague, Adam, who actually worked at Jack in the Box corporate headquarters (and speaks often of it fondly).
Since then it has spread to studios in Los Angeles, Seattle, and the UK. There are first-hand reports that the meme has also been spotted in the wild at Microsoft.

It is used frequently in the IT industry. It means that something is part of the product. We do not need to do any customizations to achieve that.
Out of the box, we provide a built-in search engine.
In addition to the out-of-the-box functionality, virtually any repository can be made searchable through the creation of Content Services. All items in the Knowledge Directory can be
searchable.
