Maddie effect

When someone starts posting on their Instagram or snapchat story more than usual. Usually after hanging out with someone outgoing, smart, hilarious, sexy and amazing named Maddie. Used to be someone to never post on their stories but starts posting a lot after hanging out with Maddie.

This guy used to never post before. Hung out with Maddie one time and we started seeing the Maddie effect!

Trump effect

When permission to be racist is granted to the public by somebody famous who says some racist shit (often claiming later it was a “joke - wink wink”) and then hate crimes/hate speech go up against the same ethnic group that was targeted by that famous person. Especially pronounced when other public figures publicly agree with the racist remarks or refuse to publicly criticize them. A statistically significant effect that’s been documented as beginning during Trump’s presidential campaign, and continuing through his presidency and post presidency.

“Wow, the membership in white supremacist groups and far right hate groups went up like 400% between 2015 and 2020”

“Yup, that’s the Trump effect. He’s their best recruiter. By all means, let’s elect him again in 2024!”

The Jerry Effect

The Jerry Effect occurs in the fantasy football league "Get the Belt or Go Home" and ONLY applies to the user Justin and his teams DaBears, Racing With Ruggs, and Waiver Wire Boys. The Jerry Effect is when the user Jerry is out of the league, Justin is winning championships. However, when Jerry is in the league, Justin is not even making the playoffs, and is most likely in last place. This is because the rivaly between Jerry clouds Justin's mind and leads to him making bad moves in fantasy football in order to compete with Jerry. (The Jerry Effect has nothing to do with Jerry winning or losing games)

Justin was the fantasy football champion 🏆 before Jerry joined the league. However now that Jerry is in the league, Justin cannot even make the playoffs. The Jerry Effect

Tunison Effect

A more extreme version of the Streisand Effect, the Tunison Effect occurs when someone is so self unaware as to not realize their constant whining about a very ignorable problem only calls further attention to the problem.

Mike’s incessant whining about something that happened a decade ago and everyone else has forgotten about only creates a bigger Tunison Effect.
