springtime hockey fan

a guy or girl who doesn't give a rat's ass about hockey from october to march, but all of a sudden cares about who is in the playoffs once they start. and actually have the nerve to try and contribute to hockey conversations. much similar to posers. nothing pisses off a hockey fan more than someone who "doesnt like hockey" one minute, and sucking hockey's dick once a bluebird flies by the window.
January 7th:
hockey fan: "man did you see the Rangers beat the Flyers last night?"

springtime hockey fan: "no, i dont really watch hockey"

April 9th:
hockey fan:"man i hope the Rangers get a high seeding"

springtime hockey fan "I KNOW RIGHT"

June 10th:
regular fan: "eh, the Rangers are out, but i hope the Penguins win it all"

springtime hockey fan: "no WAY, the Avalanche are SO good"

Blue collar hockey

Ice hockey player who undertakes the "Grinder" role on the team. Rough, rugged, scarred, and perhaps toothless, the blue collar grinder is often a player who has limited offensive skills, but is valuable to a hockey team due to their physical fore-checking skills especially along the boards; for "grinding along the boards."

Performs the work that is considered "beneath" the skill players. Including, but not limited to: trash-talking, taking hits along the boards and in front of the opponents goal, winning pucks in the corner and along the boards, and any other activities that may potentially create plays for the "play-makers" and "skilled players".

Due to their lack of offensive talent, Blue Collar Hockey Players have the ability to inspire and motivate teammates with their passionate play.
While they are no Sean Avery or Matt Cooke, George and John sure don't mind digging deep along the boards to fight for the puck to set up the play-makers. They truly are blue collar hockey players.

Ice-Hockey Goon

Someone in ice- hockey that is always pushing people into the walls and ALWAYS starting the fights. You will find a "goon", the offending players, always in the penalty box. He or she has to watch their team play with 4 players until their "time-out" is up., which is 2-5 mins. long, depending on the penalty.

Some penalties: roughing, tripping, elbowing, high-sticking, knee-ing, charging, slashing, etc....
Christina: "Man, Dylan is such a "ice-hockey goon", for starting that fight against the Thrashers goaltender, and now has 5 mins in the penalty box. "
