Side effect

The phenomenon wherein a storyteller slightly exaggerates small details of a story every time it is retold to the point where an interesting story becomes outrageously unbelievable.

Storyteller: So now we're flying around the turn at 120 MPH...
Listener 1: Hold on, last time you said you were going 110 MPH, and the time before that 100 MPH...
Listener 2: Sounds like your story has been corrupted by the Flander Effect.

Toy Story Effect

When a movie series wraps up, and the viewers think it can't continue because it was a perfect ending.
Then the movie studio releases the trailer for the next one and you become really excited again

Person 1: New trailer for the 4th one

Person 2: not interested. The trilogy wrapped everything up perfectly

Person 1: At least just watch the trailer

Person 2: Ok *Watches Trailer*

Person 1: So what do you think?

Person 2: *says nothing, and instead preorders opening premiere ticket

Person 1: Seems to be the Toy Story Effect to me

Something that is so negative, that it is positive or something so positive, that it's negative.

Based on the old Poptart advertising of "So hot, it's cool. So cool it's hot".

Person 1: "That movie was so bad, it's actually good."
Person 2: "Yup, confirmed Poptart Effect."

Bubblegum Effect

The usage of an unexplained or just flat out dumb lyric in a song which sticks in the listener's mind for the rest of the song, keeping them from paying attention to the rest of the lyrics. As soon as you step on bubblegum, you can't get it off of your shoe, but you always know it's there, and it annoys you for the rest of the day.
