paranickel

One-half of a paradidgem.
It takes twenty paranickels --- or ten paradimes --- to make a paradollar. Da concept --- and da math --- is very simple, so don't make a bleepin' PARADOX about it, or you might need a "pair o' docs" --- or at least a pair o' MEDICS in a milder-case scenario --- to handle said meltdown.

Paranaturalism

A framework for understanding phenomena that seem to run parallel to nature—alongside it, interacting with it, but not fully captured by conventional naturalistic accounts. Paranaturalism suggests that experiences labeled paranormal (ghosts, psi, synchronicity) may be natural in some expanded sense, but operate according to principles not yet recognized by mainstream science. It's a middle path: not supernatural (outside nature) and not yet naturalized (explained by current science), but potentially natural in ways we don't yet understand. Paranaturalism keeps inquiry open where dogmatism would close it.
"I've had experiences—coincidences too meaningful to ignore, feelings of presence, knowing things I shouldn't. Paranaturalism says: maybe these are real, maybe they're natural, maybe we just don't understand how yet. Not supernatural, not delusion—paranatural. Alongside nature as we know it, waiting to be understood."

Paranight

A paranight is when an abnormality occurs during the night, typically hearing things, seeing things, or abnormal events occurring during the night.
Last night was a total paranight, I kept hearing whispers in the hallway, and my bedroom lights flickered on and off by themselves!

Paloning

Paloning (from the Finnish word palonen "burnt") is the act of burning out your colleagues. A worker who is paloning already exists as a burnt up husk of a worker, but frustrates their colleagues to no end, leading their colleagues to experience both physical and emotional burnout.
"I feel so awful, I don't want to go to work when he is there"
"Sounds like he's paloning you...I'm so sorry you have to work with him"

Paranime

Animation created outside Japan that deliberately adopts the visual style, storytelling methods, or production sensibilities of anime, but has no direct roots in Japanese studios, creators, or source material.
Examples: Canon Busters, Castlevania, Devil may cry (Netflix series), Lord of Mysteries

In short:
Anime’s twin that grew up outside Japan.

Personal note:
Coined as a universal term to clearly separate anime (Japanese animation) from anime-inspired works made in other countries. “Paranime” comes from para- (parallel) + anime, meaning it runs alongside anime without being the same.
Friend: “Bro, Castlevania is the best anime ever.”
Me: “It can’t, because it’s not even an anime—it’s paranime.”
