While in modern usage, this is more often phrased as "take a chill pill", meaning "calm the fuck down", decades ago this was closer in meaning to "fuck off and die" as in "follow the lead of Hermann Göring and swallow a cyanide capsule".

"Does anyone have any lame pills? I need to take some, my life is out of control!"
"Julie took her fucking lame pills. She isn't coming out with us tonight."
"I've been taking my lame pills for 3 weeks now, considering I've done nothing but sleep."
"I'm not doing anything this weekend because I purchased the family sized bottle of lame pills."
