Playing Dude

Along the lines of "playing dead", but the dude version. This is a tactic men (or even women) use when their girl(boy)friends or wives(husbands) are talking and they want to pretend not to hear what they are saying so that they don't have to address or acknowledge their wants and/or needs.

I think your boyfriend hears you when you complain about all the gas you waste driving to and from his house every day. I think he knows you want to move in with him, he's just playing dude.

Grease: Yo, I sent a party up to Mids but he ain't joinin.

egamer: yeah, i just checked, hes been playing the dashboard for about an hour. that nigga is gone.

To be so deep in thought or daydreaming that you are not aware of someone speaking to you.

Similar to the 'Space Cadet' and 'Away with the fairies', though this one also refers to someone in deep thought as well as someone who is daydreaming.

Comes from the common drawings of deities playing the harp in the clouds.

Person 1: So what do you think Andy? ... Andy?
Person 2: Let him be, can't you see Andy is playing the harp?
