vs thread

A thread in which two or more things, usually fictional characters, are pitted agaist each other. People are supposed to argue who would win in a fight (unless stated otherwise), but more often than not, they turn into popularity contests.

"Sephiroth totally pwns Superman! He's so much cooler!"

Johnny once again became the thread killer as no one had a response to his irrelevant, off topic comment, befoere it was archived

popcorn thread

In an internet forum, this is when somebody posts something either highly controversial or just plain ignorant or stupid in a forum thread, or willfully derails a thread, thus inviting other forum posters to make all the return cheap shots and scornful insults they at the poster making the remark or post for being ridiculous, asinine, or beyond the pale.
