1. The explanation someone would give a young child when asked an awkward, typically sex-related question

2. The awkward parent-child conversation often referred to as 'the talk'

Ex. 1:

Billy: "Mommy, what were those lions doing at the zoo?"

Mommy: "Uhhh... wrestling."

Ex. 2:

Wife: "Honey, what should we tell Lucy? She asked me today what the F-word means and I told her I'd tell her later."

Husband: "Well she's too young for the sexplanation, so make something up!"

Textplanation

When someone writes a comment on Facebook or Twitter that shocks everyone, but you know they are not going to spill the details so you just simply write the word

In Dexter, when the title character comes into contact with a situation that causes him to think. Almost always cued by certain music, with some sort of a stringed instrument.

*strange Dexter music plays, signaling a Dexplanation*

Dexter (voice over): Man, I'm awesome.

hexplanation

A revealing of details/reasons as to why something didn't go right due to either the type of screw-head (i.e., you needed a small socket-wrench instead of a Philips screwdriver) or a voodoo curse.

If someone either believes in black magic or doesn't understand basics physics/mechanics, usually any hexplanation will work as an excuse with him.

fexplanation

When a woman does not accept responsibility for wrongdoing, and provides a series of excuses or justifications when confronted for an apology. Fexplaining may cause women to break out into a sweat due to the magnitude of mental gymnastics involved. If you see their face turning red, it's the guilt reflecting off like wind shear.

I felt isolated and unheard when confronting my wife about throwing away my signed John Daly jacket. All I got was a fexplanation.

Explanation

I'm pretty sure I deserve one of these. I also feel as though I'm owed one of these.

Iam "I still want an explanation."

Hym "You're not going to get one."

Iam "Well... I should..."

Hym "But you won't."

Iam "I mean... I still think I'm wrong about something here...."

Hym "What's there to think about? It either was what you thought it was or you were intentionally lead astray."

Iam "Yeah, but... *Sigh*.... They could have made this so much easier..."

Hym "I told you before and I'll tell you again. They liked being a hindrance. It was a game to them and they did it because they didn't respect you."

Iam "That's obvious..."

Hym "Look, it really doesn't matter. You left it entirely up to them. They chose that outcome. All of your problems there were communication based and could have been resolved by a 7 word sentence. It would have taken less than han 60 seconds. They didn't want to fix the problem. They liked that the problem bothered you so they allowed it problem to persist."

Iam "........"

Hym "They should have just left us alone"
