Pull the ladder up

Used in a sarcastic sense.
When someone gets something, but only for themselves, while leaving the rest of the group waiting for a kind gesture that never comes...as in, man gets on the boat and pulls the ladder up while the rest stand on the jetty in confusion at this selfish act with no way to board.

Sitting at dinner table Chloe realises there are no forks so goes to get one for her self
Everyone else sits and waits patiently thinking she will return with forks for all...
Chloe returns with just one fork...
Group exclaim sarcastically "oh jeeze Chloe, pull the ladder up why dont you!"

all those grand and glorious hairstyles women of that era publicly sported - without shame or embarrassment, evidently - only to find themselves forever running scared (especially from new husbands, new boyfriends or partners) of any or all damning photo evidence of such "unfortunate fashion choices" ever seeing the light of day.

Me : Sez you ! Have you forgotten what YOU looked like ? Judging from YOUR grad photo, I thought you were one of the Bangles or maybe Sara Jessica Parker's stunt double from 'Square Pegs'.
New Girlfriend : Eeeeeewwwwwww !!!!!! You actually SAW it ?! OMFG - I thought I had burned every known copy of that horrid pic ! Now you'll probably break up with me knowing I once ever looked like that ! I'm cursed, Cursed, CURSED !!!

The attempted explanation of increasing a consumers credit score based on making satisfactory payments to a lender. This is usually accompanied by a amateurish drawing of a ladder. Both customer and manager explaining this seem to either be drunk or confused.

If you make these payments on time on our ladder of credit, you will progress up the ladder and your credit will ssssshhhhooootttt(slurred) right up.
