Anglicized form of the Irish name Caoimhín, derived from the older Irish Coemgen, composed of the Old Irish elements coem "cup, cauldron" and gein "vapor, gas, fumes". Saint Caoimhin established a monastery in Ireland and is the patron saint of Dublin.
