Anyone that is insecure about who they are inside. People that arent sure what they want to be like and are trying to blend in. Usually, you can tell right off the bat who is a poser. I have a friend that dresses ghetto-like, skates horribly and trys to blend in with us rockers.

Someone who pretends to be what they aren't to get what they want. Usually, they prefer to back stab friends and then say that that person is a poser when in fact, they themselves are a poser.

Allison: You died your hair red to look like someone from a book!
Valerie: *cough* First, her hair is brown. Second, you died your hair the same color right after I did!
Allison: Like whatever poser. *snap fingers* *lots of girls who look the same pop-up* Like, we're leaving.
Valerie: Good luck with that.

Someone that claims to have gotten street smart from growing up on the back streets of somewhere like Orange County or Montana or claims to be a student of human behavior to sound more alert, studious and socially conscious than they actually are, since they're always asking people around them what the fuck is going on. All this is really a defense mechanism to hide the dork beneath the surface. Another one of their favorite defense mechanisms is to imitate someone that other people might describe as unbearable, thinking that by imitating somebody like that, they become somebody like that in actuality.

The poser was none of what he/she claimed to be, but knew that if he/she started being himself/herself, nobody would want to be around him/her, and nobody would want him/her around (except possibly other like minded posers).

An annoying person who pretends to be someone they are not.Some try to act lke they are goth or prep or scene etc.Some are friends that try to act like you usually because they think you are cool.These types of posers usually have low self esteem or daddy issues.The second kind of posers are the most annoying as they will try to do everything you do or buy whatever you buy.

Poser:Look at my new DC shoes and Hollister hoody!They are just like Sally's!
Person:Shut the fuck up poser.

A person that believes heavily in cliques or social status, therefore acting differently around other people just to fit in. Posers usually end up having little or no friends in the end, because of these factors.

When people are not around:

Friend: Don't you think Star Wars is better than Titanic?
Poser: Hell yeah.

When people are around:
Friend: Don't you think Star Wars is better than Titanic?
Poser: Dude you're really gay.

One who adopts the stylistic and overall aesthetic traits of a group or movement, without actually considering the attitude, ideals and lifestyle of said group.

Guy 1: Well, I got my Suicidal Tendencies hat, Bad Brains T-shirt, Dickies work pants with studded belt, Vans Sk8 HIs and knee high socks. I'm officially a HARDCORE SKATER! WOOH!!!

Guy 2: Hey Dude, I noticed your gear man. Suicidal's one of my favorite bands man! I bet you must skate as well! Those Hi-tops are so good for vert, the waffle grip is amazing!
