a term used when someone is known in their neighborhood, town or city for certain reasons. .. mostly by reputation, or infamy. like being talented or activity in the community, good or bad. .

guy: yo' did u hear about what she did to the teacher in the janitor closet?

girl: everybody know. . wow, that's hood fame.

or

Guy 1: yeah, he's crazy talented. he just released a mix tape, he dances, and is active in the community. everyone knows him.

Guy 2: Oh!!! he's hood famous. .. got it!!
