Failing at a task or fumbling a job/task/situation; usually something simple. Based on the twenty-sided dice system used in games such as D&D, in which rolling a one usually constitutes an automatic failure (called a "fumble").
When he was unable to repeat what his Professor had lectured at him, James made a claimed of rolling a one on his "Listen Check".

Used to emphasize the exaggeration of a noun to a positive extent. Other variations include: "one heck of a", "heck of a", or "hell of a".
"That Lamborghini is one hell of car!"
"This is one heck of a job to clean up."
"You're one hell of a kid!"

A one-upper who always has to be bigger or better than you. If your uncle has 20 ft. boat, his uncle or cousin has 21 ft. boat. A one-upper never loses in the world of story-telling.

A game, the object of the game is to figure out how to play.
you have 3 choices: 2 up, 1 up 1 down, or 2 down. what you are is dependent on your hands/arms for instance if you have both your hands in the air then you are 2 up
the point of the game once you figure out how to play it is to play with other people and change what you are as nonchalantly as possible
