gaper

A skier or snowboarder who is not accustomed to the local scene - usually a tourist. They walk around with their mouths all agape, oogling and awe-ing the awesomeness that is "mountain life". They try to ski or ride and can most often be found flailing in beginner areas, going too fast in beginner areas, standing around in the way of everyone else, or trying to really be cool. They are usually most easily recognized by thier blue jeans and ski jackets wide open and usually carry their skiis across their shoulder strait out, parallel to the ground, instead of up and down. They have also been known to do "the helicopter" - making abrupt u-turns while carrying skis as described above. This move usually causes chaos and head injuries to other people in near vacinty.

Dude 1: What happened to your head?

Dude 2: Some stupid Gaper helicoptered his skiis right into my skull when he couldn't figure out how to put a lift ticket on his blue jeans
