Basic Bitch

A character in a fighting game that is the one, the only, the poster boy/girl, the main character, the one everyone can play, the one who everyone likes, the one that is the jack of all trades, the one intentionally made to be beginner friendly, the one that is fundamentally sound in gameplay, the one that is ideal to learn the game with, the one that immediately comes to mind when you think of the game, the one you would recommend new players to pick up. Examples include:
Ryu from Street Fighter
Scorpion from Mortal Kombat
Lars from Tekken (not poster boy/main character)
Ky from Guilty Gear
Kasumi from Dead or Alive
Mitsurugi from Soul Calibur
Ragna from Blazblue

A: I need someone to play in Street Fighter, who do you recommend?
B: Play Ryu, he's the basic bitch of the game. He'll teach you everything you need to know though.
