Moonspeak

derogatory term for Finnish mostly, but it can apply to any language that the listener doesn't know.

The term originated from Americans listing to Finnish Metal (which in some circles is considered the best on a technical level) but having no idea what was being said in the lyrics; and because Finnish words tend to be long with many double vowels and carry a lot of accented letters. Trying to listen by ear and write it down to translate via Babble Fish or some other translator is damn near imposable, so through frustrations people just say "Moonspeak" and carry on.

"Many this song really kicks ass, what the fuck is this guy saying though"?

"Moonspeak".

Moonisah.
