The process of buying a decent venue and refitting it out to the point that it sucks out the original atmosphere.

The pub has been taken over and tarted up. The Merivalisation of the venue has sucked the atmosphere out of what was decent pub.

Is like saying that the son of god is a shit. Actually the meaning is (Shit Jesus or Jesus is shit). Maybe not one of the most used ones but i swear that is a good and proper way to esclamate when something bad happens. Examples.
