A particular form of attire worn by females that includes a denim skirt paired with a denim jacket. A denim shirt worn under the jacket is optional, but does not add any level of authenticity. Often described as the female version of the "Canadian tuxedo". Originated circa 1989.
See Becky's outfit when going to the mall in Roseanne episode: "House of Grown-ups". Darlene should have said: "You're going to wear your Canadian wedding dress to the mall? Don't you think you're a little over dressed?"

How the media portrays the way people in Southern California dress (although often times very accurate). When someone is abiding to the Cali Dress Code, they are usually wearing shorts or boardshorts, sandals, sunglasses, and a tank top. This style can be found throughout Southern California at ANY time of year.

The practice of working from home on a Friday. Has become widespread with the advent of the broadband connection. The practice originates from the 1980s, when bankers, lawyer and other professionals elected to have a day of dressing casually on Friday, so they would not ruin their suits with spilt beer in the evening. This was known as dress-down Friday. However the act of selecting casual clothes prroved beyond these individuals who now simply just work from home in their dressing gown.

The obsession to always be perfectly dressed for the occasion. This syndrome usually afflicts recipients of the "best-dressed" award in high school yearbooks. People with this problem will feel the need to change clothes multiple times in a day, and even design an elaborate outfit just for hanging out with friends. The afflicted will also put-down others like sport.
Why is Colby taking so long to get ready? We're only going to Shalimar India...
I dunno, I guess he has best-dressed syndrome.

When an older woman tries to dress young to be "cool". Usually involves jeans with rhinestones, Ed Hardy shirts, multi-highlighted hair, and some serious heels to finish off the look. Usually very embarrassing to her kids who are in either middle or high school. Still lives in the 80's with her music. Will still wait in line to see Bon Jovi.
"Man, Karly's mom thinks she is still hot. With her halter top and tight jeans, she definitely qualifies as 'mutton dressed as lamb'."

In fandom, a Little Black Dress is a character who someone feels can be "shipped" (paired up in a relationship) with virtually any other character. A Harry Potter fan whose Little Black Dress is Hermione would not only read Ron/Hermione fanfiction, but also Harry/Hermione, Snape/Hermione, Ginny/Hermione, and so forth.
"How can you read that story? It's freaking Voldemort/Hermione!"
"Hermione is my Little Black Dress. She goes with everything."
