She won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for the movie The Aviator in which she played Katharine Hepburn. She played Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings. Her other movies inclue The Life Aquatic, Little Fish, Heaven, The Man Who Cried, Bandits, The Talented Mr. Ripley. She is married to screenwriter, Andrew Upton. They have two children, Dashiell and Roman.
