Stereotype

1) General assumptions about a group of people often perpetuated through the form of tasteless jokes.

2)Sometimes ironically spread by people joking about their own group.

3) What people sometimes point out in anger unintentionally teaching others about it who have never heard of it and appearing like a bigot.

4) Sometimes accidently said by someone who isn't aware that it's a stereotype and gets weird looks and doesn't know why.

"Oh, it's probably a/an ***** guy ahahah. I'm just kidding, just kidding!"

"What the?"

"Yeah, cause ***** people are known for doing that."

"That's awful. I've never heard that...."

"Yeah, but it's a common stereotype that....Um...Nevermind."

"Haha, dude, you're so awkward right now it's hilarious."

Karen(name, not stereotype.)

Stereo Girl

A preppy girl (usually about fifteen or sixteen) who acts like a dumbass around everyone and creates stereotypes for other girls. Stereo girls do very stupid things, rave about stupid things, and think stupid things. Eventually, if she exposes people to her stupidity, they will begin to believe all girls act like she does, therefore creating a stereotype for girls.

Guy: What's that girl doing over there?
Girl: Raving about Twilight.
Guy: Do all girls act like this?
Girl: No, she's just a stereo girl.
Guy: Oh, good.

Girl 1: God I hate Raina.
Girl 2: Why do you hate Raina?
Girl 1: She's a stereo girl and now everyone in my science class thinks I'm obsessed with Justin Bieber.
Girl 2: Aw man, I'm sorry.

Stereotype

Something that is not entirely fact, but is also not based entirely on fiction either. Not every single black person can jump, but many of them can, enough of them can. Not every single Asian knows martial arts, but many of the martial arts started in Asia (not all). Not every Italian has been in the mob, or knows how to cook, but the Italians had a mob, and enough Italians are good cooks. Not every single Irish guy has a short dick, but many do, enough of them do (that includes me), or a bad temper, or a drinking problem, but even if the lace curtain irish feel embarrassed and dont want to be associated with the stereotypes, they got started for a reason, even if they're not a fact for everybody in a population.

Stereotypes dont get eliminated because someone feels embarrassed by them. People usually know that a stereotype isn't a fact for everybody in a population, even people who perpetuate them willfully remain embarrassing to some people.

Stereotype

To say a stereotype is false is as misleading as saying a stereotype is true for everybody.

Though not every Jew was born with money or knows how to bargain with people, there's been a lot of Jews who made a lot of money that way, people know Jews for knowing how to make money, even if not all Jews have a lot of money. Some are embarrassed, some are offended, but it doesn't change anything. The stereotype isn't entirely true or entirely false.
