Inverted Date

A date that begins with sex, and then proceeds to the traditional dating activities (e.g. dinner, drinks, show, dancing); as opposed to the traditional order of dating where the activities lead up to the ultimate objective of sex at the end of date. Causes much confusion as the original purpose of the date no longer seems to exist.

She surprised me with an inverted date; I was totally confused and disoriented for the rest of the night.

Pulp Fiction Date

A presumably platonic outing with a friend's spouse or significant other, usually, though not always, where a certain level of unstated attraction is involved.

"So next Saturday I've got a Pulp Fiction date with my buddy's girlfriend."

Pittsburgh Date

An instance where two individuals are out on a date and sit on the same side of the table/booth thinking that it is romantic when it in fact is and looks ridiculously stupid.

*happens almost exclusively in Pittsbugh, PA

Person 1: "hey look at those two jagoffs over there on a Pittsburgh date!"

Person 2: "Hahahaha how fucking stupid, sitting on the same side...she must be giving him a handjob!"

vague date

A phrase coined by Teresa Strasser of the Adam Carolla Show on Free FM which refers to social outings that would normally be considered dates, but where one of the two people involved seems completely oblivious to the concept of dating. This is generally characterized by a lack of interest in conversation or flirting, an aimless absence of direction or goals for the evening, and possibly an uncomfortable revelation that the event was never intended to be date. This can be blamed on the modern tendency for self-absorption and a narcissistic belief that you shouldn't have to put forth any effort to be interesting or even pleasant.

I ended up going on a vague date with Jim. We went and saw a stupid buddy comedy and ate at Starbucks, but he split when he got a phone call from a friend to play basketball.

I don't even know if the date I was on with Nancy was a date, because she kept talking to me about how great it was to be single. I think it was some weird vague date.

When two people who have a special interest in one another get together for a period of time to simply just:
Snack, talk, watch a show, and sleep

(The main activity would be sleeping)

I didn't feel like going out so I suggested we just stay in for a nap date.
