Pronoun
1. A group of people of unspecified gender who are blamed for circumstances, unfavorable situations, or problems of which the blamer has no control.
2. White people. Code word used by people of color when covertly referencing bad behavior of white people when in mixed company. Usually spoken in low undertones in ventriloquist fashion with raised eyebrows.
"They are really trying me today."
"We have to stay three steps ahead because 'they' are always trying to put us two steps behind."
"You know 'they' don't raise their kids the way we do."
Any persons or people. Can refer to literally any group of organisms. No one is really sure who they is/are. By just basic English conventions, they does not refer to a specific gender or sex. Therefore, they can refer to any given group such as people, animals, people and animals, plants, objects, cells, etc.
The all inclusive pronoun that can used by everyone and can be used for both singular and plural subjects. Some (not all) LGBTQ+ peoplestill reject this since they want to special and above everyone else.
He is eating ice cream. She is eating cake. They are eating dessert.
