A condition that is caused by the lack of vitamin C. It's easily avoided by a normal consumption of citrus fruit such as oranges and limes. This term is usually associated with pirates.

Sturvy

A Cape Flats term for Coloured/mixed race women who “act uppity”. The term which is both derogatory and complimentary is derived from the misogynist desire to put brown women who thought too much of themselves back in their place.

As a result there’s no male equivalent for the word.

There’s also a growing movement of young Coloured women/men who are attempting to own the word in retaliation.

“Why you keep you so sturvy then?”

“Don’t talk to that kind, she’s sturvy.”

“I’m gonna get me a sturvy kind my bru.”

A person with the ailment looks pale, feels weak as piss, and is momentarily immobilised.
