Loud, fast version of reggae popular with skinheads in the late sixties. Mostly jamaican artists, but there were a few british as well. Died out in the seventies due to the shift of reggae to rastafarian and poppier reggae. revived during the two tone movement, and still popular today. Famous artists include laurel aitken, judge dread, symarip, and prince buster.
