Iran was not perfect before the Islamic Revolution. Hence why there WAS an Islamic Revolution. The majority of people living in Iran were poor in the 20th century, while the Shah basked in riches. That's WHY they revolted.
Yes, Iran has had a rich past, but the lives of Iranians were not any better before the Islamic Revolution than they are now. They DID have more freedom, but there was still a great amount of dissatisfaction.

Iran(Persia) is a world in one country,believe me.it has many interesting things worth to know.iranian are proud of their past and their culture which is almost ruined now.why?cuz of its goverments.they try to say their history had begun when islam came to iran.they are arab and like arabs but iranian are PERSIAN which is a branch of ARIA,another branch is GERMAN in europe.
the first writing about human rights which was used in human rights commission was written by Great Cyrus,Probably best king of iran governing 24 countries peacefully 2500 years ago.
Suez canal was dug by iranian kings to pass their ships to mediterranean sea.
probably iran is the only place in the world that you can sea a green jungle and a hot dessert in a distance less than 70 miles.

A beautiful mountainous country of the Mideast world-renowned for its innumerable contributions to world culture, refined classical music, high standard of education, and delicious cuisine. Also has an interesting mix of ethnicities and religions including Jewish, Kurdish, Azerbaijani, and Georgian. Unfortunately for many years it was ruled by the dictatorial Shah Pahlavi; the mullah Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini; and the anti-Israel, anti-Semitic, Hezbollah-supporting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. However, now with the much more moderate Hassan Rouhani in power, we and many other countries around the world now have a chance at peace with Iran. Iran is bordered by Armenia, Turkey, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
President Obama has a chance at better diplomatic relations with Iran now that Hassan Rouhani is in power.

They claim to want a nuclear program for "peaceful purposes" and energy, despite mountains of evidence indicating that they really want to build nuclear weapons with which to wipe out Israel and America to pave the way for the return of the Mahdi--a Muslim ruler who is believed to have fallen down a well in 941 A.D. and will return when times are at their worst (yes, you read that right: he fell down a well). Iran rakes in hundreds of billions of dollars worth of oil revenue a year, but instead of using that money to help their people and improve their refineries and natural energy sources, the money is used to fund terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as their unnecessary "peaceful" nuke program; the rest of it goes into the pockets of the corrupt old Mullahs. It is estimated that around 2/3 of the Iranian population is under 30 years of age, and that the vast majority of these people hate the Mullahs; but instead of rising up and overthrowing them, they spend their time whining about how evil America is and burning Israeli and American flags, and denying that the Holocaust ever happened even though the Shah was a supporter of Hitler during World War II--Pahlavi even changed the name of the country from "Persia" to "Iran", a Farsi derivation of "Aryan", in reference to the idea of a proto-Indo-European lineage supported by both Nazis and Persian ethnologists.
